Melissa is a junior attending Seoul International School who loves biology and is interested in using her knowledge in STEM to help underprivileged children. She is a two-time ISEF finalist and has had multiple laboratory experiences in the Research in Biological Sciences (RIBS) at The University of Chicago, where she investigated wound healing of jellyfish, and at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, where she continues to explore the directional movements of cholesterol. Melissa is also a co-founder of CODEMON, a youth-led organization that strives to provide coding education for underprivileged children, especially in Mongolia. At school, Melissa is an executive officer for the Science club, STEM club, and Random Acts of Kindness club. As a member of the Korea National Cheerleading Team, she is also an accomplished cheerleader and harpist, leading the school’s Varsity Cheerleading team as a co-captain and performing at various concerts.
